Rice husk char as a potential electrode material for supercapacitors

Rice husk char (RHC), a carbon-based material, was obtained by thermal decomposition of rice (RH) biological waste. Physicochemical properties RHC were determined using XRD, FTIR, FESEM, TGA, N2 adsorption-desorption studies and contact angle measurement. A lab-scale supercapacitor (SC) fabricated as-prepared its supercapacitive behaviour investigated techniques like CV, GCD EIS studies. Each electrode showed specific capacitance 80.2 F g-1 at the constant charging/disharging current density 0.05 g-1. exhibited 90 % retention initial even after 5000 GCD. The presence amorphous SiO2 in could contribute to excellent wettability towards water, enhancing effective surface area improving access electrolyte ions into RHC. This remarkable supercapacitive performance waste-derived demonstrates potential as cost effecttive environmentally benign material for aqueous electrolyte-based SCs.
